2013 OMK Summer Camp Registration - Now open!
The Utah OMK Team has been hard at work planning lots of amazing camps and family events for you to participate in the summer! We are so excited to have you take a look and see all of the great things we have planned for you!
**Online registration is required to attend any OMK camp or activity. Please keep in mind that these activities fill up quickly and each has a limited amount of space! Registration is open to all military youth. National Guard and Reserve youth are welcome to attend. In addition, DoD Contractors that are overseas in support of a contingency, Wounded Warriors, Fallen Warriors and Veteran’s children and families are invited to participate in OMK Camps and Activities.

Northern Utah Camps

4-H In All Its Glory
Military youth in 3-6th grades
Cooking, sewing, science, crafts! This camp has it all and more as you learn about project areas 4-H has to offer. Help Mr. Woodle solve the mystery of the missing clover and experience what 4-H is all about. |

Dangerous and Daring Camp for Boys and Girls
Military youth in 3-5th grades – Lunch included
Learn what there is to know about all things daring and dangerous. We will spend the day outdoors playing, building, exploring, and learning the necessities of being a top-notch kid. |

Join your own Design Squad and get a special visit in our new Tinkering Exhibit. We’ll invent, create, discover as we work as teams to accomplish the challenges of science and fun! |

Chef Extraordinaire: The Art and Science of Cooking
Military youth ages 11-14 – Lunch included
Taking your Culinary Arts to the next level, this camp will “raise” your “kitchen help” to Gastronomic Masters! The Art – Student chefs will learn knife skills, decorative garnishing, plating, and creating a full mouthwatering sensory environment. The Science – Student Chefs will experiment and learn all kinds of cooking related topics, such as: why things rise, why they fall, color, flakiness vs crummyness, taste, and smell. Students will have things to bring home each day and there will be a culminating event Thursday afternoon where student chefs will work as teams to create a three Course Meal for specially invited guests. Space is limited for this Amazing Gourmet experience, so sign up now!

We’ll explore basic biology, chemistry, and physics using common items from the kitchen. We’ll make rock candy, mix up some cornstarch goo, and extract iron from your morning cereal! |

Grainy Brainy and Rainbows
Military youth ages 8-14
Come join us for fun, food and games! Make your own artisan wholegrain bread and then eat it with a rainbow. Along the way we will create our own games and conquer the swim noodle and hula hoop. |

UP FOR THE CHALLENGE: New and Unusual Foods! Military youth ages 8-14
Explore new and unusual foods! Dig in and taste an insect infested log, savory school paste and even garbage pasta salad (not really, but….). Jump into fitness and make your own jump rope and water weenie to keep you cool. |

Bubble. Pop. Fizz. Gurgle! Military youth ages 8-18 (Lunch provided) That’s not your stomach telling you that you are hungry! That’s your stomach telling you to join us at the Iron County 4-H Operation Military Kids Camp! Please come prepared to spend some time in the sun, perform science experiments, make a mess, and have FUN! Lunch and snacks will be provided. Bubble, pop, fizz, and gurgle – there it goes again! |

GET FIT BE STRONG: Kanarra Creek 3.5 Mile Hike Military youth ages 8-14 (Lunch provided)
Let’s go hiking! Kanarra Creek is fun slot canyon hike just outside Kolob Canyons section of Zion National Park. We will provide lunch and snacks for the hike. Please wear appropriate clothes and shoes because we’re going to get wet! |

Up For The Challenge: Fuel Your Body! Military youth ages 8-14 Break it up – with breakfast first – from around the world! Have you ever eaten breakfast with chopsticks? We will learn about vitamins, steroids and energy drinks. Then after awesome fun and games we will end with a snack attack. |

GET FIT AND BE STRONG: Good Food in the Great Outdoors Military youth ages 8-14
Hike with us to the “Eagles Nest” and then see if you can make it through “Fat Mans Misery”. Have fun learning how to cook dinner over a camp fire. |

OMK Family Hangout: Rappelling at Red Cliffs Do you know how to cook in the outdoors? Do you have a first-aid kit at home? 65% of Utah families don't have a first-aid kit or a plan of what to do in the event of a natural disaster! Get prepared for emergencies with 4-H by improving family trust and communication as we go rappelling, assemble family first-aid kits, and make & cook your own tin-foil dinners in the outdoors. OMK Anasazi Night Meet us at the Anasazi Trailhead on Highway 91 in the Santa Clara/Ivins for a night studying Southern Utah history through locating petroglyphs using GPS, and interpreting their stories, making bows and arrows as a family tribe and work together to make a nutritious dinner using ancient recipes and tools. |
